Denu Dam is a light-cured blue gingival protection resin designed to shield gum tissue from the chemical irritation and burns caused by hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide bleaching agents during tooth whitening procedures. Applied along the gingival margin before placing the bleaching gel, it forms a flexible, protective barrier that cures completely in just 15 seconds. Blue shade provides immediate visual confirmation of complete gingival coverage — gaps in the barrier are clearly visible against both pink gingiva and white enamel, allowing correction before the bleaching agent is applied. 1. Before applying the whitening agent, clean and dry the gingival tissue around all teeth to be treated. 2. Attach a disposable tip to the Denu Dam syringe. 3. Dispense a continuous, even bead of Denu Dam along the gingival margin of each tooth, starting 1–2mm coronal to the gingival crest. 4. Visually inspect for complete coverage. The blue shade makes any unprotected areas immediately visible. Fill any gaps before curing. 5. Light cure the applied Dam for 15 seconds per section using a standard LED curing light. 6. Apply the bleaching gel to the tooth surfaces. The Dam barrier prevents contact with gingiva. 7. After whitening, remove the bleaching gel per the whitening product's instructions. 8. Grasp the cured Dam at one edge and peel it off cleanly in one motion. Rinse the patient's mouth thoroughly.
